So what does that look like as an Unschooler?
Unschooling is 100% child-led. You don’t typically use rigid schedules or curriculums, and there are many Unschoolers who don’t do anything they’d ever call “schoolwork.”
Your child(ren)’s learning is shaped by the questions they ask, and you provide the tools and experiences to support their exploration. You may incorporate other in-person or online learning opportunities.
You are passionate about raising self-reliant, curious, life-long learners, and you have no desire, or see any benefit, to stay in-step with what’s being currently taught in “traditional” schools.
As an Unschooler, you don’t use grades because there is nothing to grade! You are not overly concerned about them passing/not passing a class, because you want them to have life skills they could never attain by simply staying in a classroom.
You may decide with your child(ren) that they want to go to college or you may decide with your child(ren) that college is not something that aligns best with what they want to do. One of the huge benefits of homeschooling is always being able to meet/challenge/support your child(ren) right where they “are” in their learning process. Together you have the freedom to decide what is best for their personal goals.
You want your child(ren) to have fun, limitless lives! You set strong examples and help guide them to understand the difference between right vs wrong. You give them the freedom to explore themselves and the world around them, so they can succeed (in whatever ways they define “success” for themselves)! Remember to also teach them the importance of consistency, patience, and the power of compounding interest, so they can tap into those disciplines when needed. š
You want the absolute best for your kid(s)! You want to open as many doors of opportunity as possible, so they can choose which doors they want to walk through and explore!
You set a high standard for yourself and your kids.
Managing expectations will alleviate tension and allow
you to enjoy time with the ones you love,
because they’re the reason you’re doing it all!

A simple way to incorporate

keeping the magic of Unschooling,
is by asking your kid(s) every morning,
āWhat are your goals for today?ā

Provide a
stimulating environment.
Kids who grow up in
an enriched environment,
which supports their passions,
will be constantly learning.
If you want them

Iām a mom and, just like you, I was curious about homeschooling. I kept feeling like it could offer more than "traditional" schooling, but I didnāt know what it REALLY looked like day-to-day.
At first, I was fearful I wouldnāt find enough information and resources to feel confident enough to give homeschooling a try, but then - the opposite happened! I was quicklyĀ overwhelmedĀ by allllll of theĀ resources out there!
I was so excited about the opportunitiesĀ and possibilities I kept hearing homeschooling could provide, but I needed to know if they were true. With already being so busy,Ā howĀ was I going to have the time to thoroughly review the information and make an informed decision?! And if I decided to give homeschooling a try, how and where would I even START?
(Because if I was going to homeschool, I wanted to be sure it was the veryĀ best for my child(ren)Ā and messing up their education wasĀ notĀ an option!)
After years of slowly gathering information here and there, and then months and months ofĀ stressfulĀ and exhaustingĀ more targeted Googling, reading every book and joining every FB Group I could find, and talking to as many other homeschoolers as I could connect with and observe (while not wanting to creep them out...lol), I FINALLY felt confident enough to say, āOk, letās give it a try! We can always change our minds if itās not working, right?ā

I’m a mom and, just like you, I was curious about homeschooling and had a feeling it could offer more than traditional schooling, but I didn’t know what it REALLY looked like day-to-day.
At first, I was fearful I wouldn’t find enough information and resources to feel confident enough to give homeschooling a try, but then - the opposite happened! I was quickly flooded and overwhelmed by allllll of the information out there!
I was so excited about the opportunities and possibilities I kept hearing homeschooling could provide, but I needed to know if they were true. With already being so busy, how was I going to have the time to thoroughly review the information and make an informed decision?! And if I decided to give homeschooling a try, how and where would I even START?
(Because if I was going to homeschool, I wanted to be sure it was the very best for my child(ren) and messing up their education was not an option!)
After months and months of stressful and exhausting Googling, joining every FB Group I could find, and talking to as many other homeschoolers as I could (not in a creepy way…lol…) connect with, I FINALLY felt confident enough to say, “Ok, let’s give it a try! We can always change our minds if it’s not working, right?”
