So what does that look like as a Homeschooler?
As an Intentional Homeschooler you may incorporate your child(ren)’s opinions, but the learning is parent-led and you choose the curriculums and activities.
You may follow an All-in-One curriculum with everything already planned out for you. You may use different curriculums for each subject (personalizing the learning for your child(ren) and planning your schedule from scratch). You may also incorporate other classes in-person or online.
You are focused on your child(ren)’s day-to-day learning and adventures while exploring and preparing for what they may want to do next year (and in future years)!
You read curriculum reviews, and when you hear others raving about a curriculum (in real life or online), you add it to your ongoing list of curriculums/activities to check out in your “spare time!” (You just can't help it! 😜)
You consider all options, weigh the pros and cons, and never start anything without planning to finish (unless the material or schedule is not working for you/your child(ren), and then you quickly transition to one of the top options on your back-up list).
You establish consistent schedules that your child(ren) can count on, and you are dedicated to organizing your other responsibilities around your child(ren)’s education.
As an Intentional Homeschooler you may or may not use grades with Elementary curriculums, but you definitely incorporate grades when you’re using Middle School and High School curriculums (this decision can also depend on the laws of your state/country). You may decide with your child(ren) that they want to go to college, or you may decide with your child(ren) that college is not something that aligns best with what they want to do. Either way, you want them familiar with the grading process and the option of going to college available to them. One of the huge benefits of homeschooling is always being able to meet/challenge/support your child(ren) right where they “are” in their learning process. (I’m referring to blocks of schooling years, rather than age or specific grade-levels, because your child(ren) could be learning different subjects at different grade levels.)
You "work hard ~ play hard" and take pride in your family’s accomplishments! You want your child(ren) to have fun, limitless lives, so they will need to learn how to set goals and stay focused to succeed (in whatever ways they define "success" for themselves)!
You want the absolute best for your kid(s)! You want to open as many doors of opportunity as possible, so they can choose which doors they want to walk through and explore!
You set a high standard for yourself and your kids.
Managing expectations will alleviate tension and allow
you to enjoy time with the ones you love,
because they’re the reason you’re doing it all!

I was so excited about the opportunities and possibilities I kept hearing homeschooling could provide, but I needed to know if they were true. With already being so busy, how was I going to have the time to thoroughly review the information and make an informed decision?! And if I decided to give homeschooling a try, how and where would I even START?
(Because if I was going to homeschool, I wanted to be sure it was the very best for my child(ren) and messing up their education was not an option!)
After years of slowly gathering information here and there, and then months and months of stressful and exhausting more targeted Googling, reading every book and joining every FB Group I could find, and talking to as many other homeschoolers as I could connect with and observe (while not wanting to creep them out...lol), I FINALLY felt confident enough to say, “Ok, let’s give it a try! We can always change our minds if it’s not working, right?”
…and I AM SO GRATEFUL WE GAVE IT A TRY!
